The ‘I am’ sayings of Jesus form the spine of the teaching of John‘s Gospel.
The ‘I am’ part speaks of Christ’s person; the second part explains Christ’s
work. Christ, the Bread of Life, removes the hunger caused by sin and brings the satisfaction of eternal life, the twin blessings of repentance and faith.
Christ, the Light of the World, illumines the mind leading to true assurance and gives spiritual sight, born of effectual calling.

Christ, the Door, bestows entry to God’s fold and enjoyment within God’s
pasture.
Christ, the Good Shepherd, grants saving protection and preserving perseverance.
Christ, the Resurrection and the Life, both commences and continues the
grace of salvation.
Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life, points the way to God, expounds the
truth about God and epitomizes the life of God, for he is what he does.
Christ, the True Vine, both cleanses in justification and consecrates through
sanctification.
Jesus Christ is truly the great ‘I AM’.

‘Jesus the Great ‘I Am’ is a joy to read for the simple reason that it is all about the Lord Jesus – and not about us. Page after page lovingly and carefully describes who he is and what he is really like.
And this, more than anything else in all the world, is what we really
need to know. This is a beautiful book about a great Saviour. It deserves
to be both savoured and shared.’
Sinclair B Ferguson, Chancellor’s Professor of Theology, Reformed Theological Seminary, Teaching Fellow, Ligonier Ministries

‘In these pages, Harry Uprichard unpacks the ‘I Am’ sayings of Jesus
with care and precision, giving us a full picture of the person and
work of Jesus Christ as described in John’s Gospel. Young Christians,
and young preachers especially, will benefit enormously from Dr
Uprichard’s exegetical skill and pastoral applications.’
The Very Rev’d Dr J. Stafford Carson, President’s Professor & Frank
Barker Chair of Missions and Evangelism at Westminster Theological
Seminary in Philadelphia
